Since 1996 it has been a legal requirement to take and pass a Driving Theory Test before being allowed to make an appointment for a Practical Driving Test.
The PC-based Test takes place at three sites around Kent, in Sidcup, Chatham and Canterbury and is in two parts. The first consists of 50 multiple-choice questions, then secondly a Hazard Perception section which tests the
candidate's ability to spot when hazards develop, reacting to the situation
with the click of a mouse or a tap of the space bar.
